  1. Nice batch Jim! Liken' the boot knives!
  2. What a great pic, nice! Well the bench looks like a bench of a well employed guy, lots of honest work going on! Thanks for posting. Mitch
  3. ^^^ I don't know about Mad Max, but that photo made me smile ear to ear! Nice "group shot"!!!
  4. Well that works out great for me, as I have to use a walking stick / cane. I'll just mod one up to fit! Mitch
  5. Frosty, Never had Ptarmagin, is it like Pheasant or sage hen...? EVERYTHING taste better on a camp fire! I was thinking of foot pegs to push the rods down in the ground if needed as well. Thomas, One of these days, maybe between trips, an easy trip for you would be to cut over off highway 25 over on 152 and take a little trip up to Lake Roberts, I think you would enjoy that area. Spent my childhood in that area, and up the Gila on horseback. That's when one of Frosty's small roaster would have been handy, as all we usually had was a cast iron skillet. Now, I'm just the opposite of the young lady Frosty worked with, take the camp trailer, since I'm old, fat and broken. Look forward to a pic of yours! Regards to all.
  6. Jim, George, Thank you very much for the ideas and photos. I am a visual guy, and the photos help a bunch. I could also see how these would play in to some of the other ideas by Thomas and others! Nothing left but getting busy now!
  7. Again, awsome work Chris! Always happy when you post your work. What wood is the haft? Mitch
  8. Thomas, that is a good idea, real flexable.
  9. always such great input here, so many options and choices! George, would you have a photo of your methodology? Thanks. Mitch
  10. I have not tried "track of the wolf" yet, I'll give them a look., but Dunlap wood craft as well as Hawkins knife supply hafts fit well with that drift from Iron Mountain. thanks.
  11. Charles.....Oh, man....I forgot today was Saltfork. @ Blanchard also.... Another good one?
  12. both pieces are great, very clever!
  13. Good to see your posts again, Colonal! Love the new work!
  14. DSW, I agree about the rebar. My brother-in-law has a concrete buisness and has offered some rebar up, but I just can't do it.
  15. I am liking this topic. I have been wanting to do a tri-pod,anyone made one? seen one design with the top end of two rods are formed in a "U" shape, and the third rod has a loop at it's top. the two U's slide into the loop to form the tripod. Then you can set it up like a spiket. Here is what I'm trying to describe:
  16. welcome, Malice. I do like what you developed with the top knife, no doubt your dad will love it! Keep going, as you will only get beter as you practice, improve your tools and your stock! And as you know, this site has an endless supply of information and great folks for advice. look forward to your future projects!
  17. A couple of good looking first projects! bothe have decent form. And welcome aboard! Look forward to your future work.
  18. Cool project. Now I'll have to keep my eye out for masonry hammers as well.
  19. Again, awsome work, Robert! I am envious of the power hammer and how you did the jelly roll pattern. Great choice of wood for the scales as well!
  20. Some more nice ones, Chris! Do you grind off some of the teeth on therasp before forging, or do you hammer them down as you forge?
  21. Looks great, good idea! Did you re-drift the eye or is it the same?
  22. Nice to see another post from you Chris! Love the carving and the inlay, always top notch! Seen a video by Gary Huston on You Tube where he made a "farriers ax", and explainded how they where used in the days when horses were used in battle, the ax would be used to finish off a wounded horse, and then to remove a hoof which was marked with the horses i.d. for record keeping. Thought is was interesting. Thomas, my grandpa who lived in Silver City use to make spurs from rasps as well. Still have a pair, and a miniature pair he maid my son.
