On the Third day of Christmas my true love gave to me 3 prawns from Frosty's forge... (reference from another thread and Saturday night chat to make total sense)

Poetry of Children
Excellent poem Frosty, I had to look up what a prawn was... but if you cook it I'll give it a try... I'll have to try the wiener cooker... If nothing else just for the reaction of my kids...

Bellows?
The ones I've been involved in used either 1by pine or tulip poplar (4-6" wide planks) butted side on side then bound together with multiple cross boards to hold them together. We then simply applied some sealant between the boards (caulking) on the inside (so it wouldn't show) On the last one we added a metal strapping around the butt ends of the boards (over the canvas) that in theory was to help avoid fastener failure on the cross boards... it also incorporated the pull point on one side

Happy Thanksgiving One and All...
I sat down two days ago and made a list of things I am thankful for... I amazed myself when I filled the second sheet and was still thinking of more. I wonder how many of us just simply forget to be thankful?

Related to a blacksmith
Not that I or any of my ancestors are famous but my great grandfather was a blacksmith for local mines. One rod, I know what you mean about remembering a picture but not being able to find it. As a young kid my great grandmother used to show me a picture of my great grandfather, he was sitting in his over stuffed arm chair with a cigar hanging out the corner of his mouth and his arm extended straight out holding out a long handled sledge from the tail of the handle, arm and sledge extended straight out. I don't know how much that sledge weighed but she used to tell me it was his favorite striker and he wouldn't leave it at the mine, but he would walk in the house with it and set it next to his chair each night.

Bellows?
Jymm, I fully agree on the 1/3 2/3 on the two sections. When I helped rebuild the bellows at the village I used to volunteer at, they was originally 1/2 1/2. After the rebuild and adjusting the sections to the 1/3 on bottom 2/3 on top, the bellows was absolutely incredible and was much easier to use, required less effort to pump and had better air flow for a longer period of time.

Blacksmith's anonymous
dablacksmith, I've been there with the two removable casts and doctors telling me I could not lift anything heavier than an ink pen (they wanted paid). Two years went by before I could begin swinging again... I don't know what was more painful, the injury, or the lack of being able to do the things I love...

Looking for non galvanized barbed wire
Not illegal if you ask and have permission, those who I asked and said yes thought I was a fool for wanting the old junk, and I thought myself fortunate to have all that great stuff.
