  1. 53 years old and I can't grow a beard or mustache for love nor money. Unfortunately, the ol' facial hair grows just enough to have to shave it every day.
  2. Nice score Mike - you'll love it! On any given day, my swage block sees more use in my shop than my anvil.
  3. Hey KTB, Is there a specific site you're referring to? Could you post a link? The playa can be a crazy, unbridled place! My ex (Kelli) has been going for the last 6 years and for 2010 she created an art piece. She came up to my shop to forge out a couple of the elements for it and I made a mold form to create the plexi sphere. Here's a few shots of it in place Photo: Andrew Watts Weather on the playa All lit up - programmed led lighting would cycle through different colors and patterns Kelli and her creation.
  4. Nice job CV - looks like you're off to a fun start!
  5. Oh, you lucky Sonovagun!! We only got to glue ourselves to the TV to watch all those launches Pictures?
  6. "As long as you're not afraid to die, you're ok . . ." Ya just can't make this stuff up Impressive spectacle tho!
  7. Frosty Yeah, I wish I'd seen your design before I built mine . . . I like yours better - more "makes sense" in my mind I copied mine from a design I saw at Ponderosa Forge in Sisters Or. Mine's supposed to have a counter-weighted cantilever set up to raise and lower it but I got as far as you see in the pic then put it to work - someday I'll finish it up! Ok, Ok, I'm done with my thread hijack . . . back to our regularly scheduled programming . . .
  8. Ditto to Frosty here - I've got a variable volume gasser that just uses bricks stacked in different configurations
  9. LOL! - Believe me, after pretty much giving up my shop for a month while my GF did the "foster mom" thing, I wouldn't mind doing a little hammering on their tiny noggins!
  10. Fire it up K! Take some shots when you get it up to heat.
  11. So that what they mean by "Go big or go home . . ."
  12. Hey Poleframer - How'd you end up with a Chukkar in your shop? We used to raise them for the Game Dept. in SW Washington and even being brought up in pens, they were real skittish - I'm surprised to see one in a building!
  13. What's your address Sam and how many do you want? I'll pay the shipping!
  14. Cats . . . lots and lots of cats . . . A Polydactyl momma and 5 mutant babies showed up about 5 weeks ago . . . My GF is a cat whisperer so I was doomed from the start. My shop is now a feline halfway house - the only satisfaction I get is watching them scatter when I fire up the power hammer
  15. Good to hear Harold! All our thoughts for his swift and safe return!
  16. Our thoughts and best hopes are with you and your wife! Neil & Lauren
  17. It took lots o' work and time Bro, We had to set a BUNCH of stuff aside and see each other in a whole new light - as individuals, not as the person we fell in (or out of) love with . . . it was worth the effort!
  18. Fe, I went through the same thing ( for very similar reasons) with my ex - we had 2 1/2 year "live-in" separation - We came out of it on the other side the absolute best of friends and with a stronger love for each other than we had before - just different. All our thoughts to you and your wife - I hope that you can make your way on the best of terms whatever they may be!! Neil & Lauren
  19. Sounds like you've been down this road before but my sincere condolences on the rejection Michael. The validity of your work lies in your obvious talent and it's wonderful expression and execution, not in the "criteria dance" of a committee!
  20. "Help me . . . Help me . . . ." Gotta love the classics . . .
  21. Yep - The best lifting tool I know is a half rack o' beer and the telephone. Nice looking anvil for 200 bucks Sam. Congrats!
