  1. I hate buying on line, it takes weeks to get as the postal service is broken here and its just a good chance for them to sell you rubbish
  2. Haha wish they still had fit for service rules for selling tools now, actually they did have a recall on some cheep axle stands that were sold that had cast iron parts that could snap off, my car has a superbell malleable iron front axle, magnum axles are now banned here because they all were braking
  3. The cast iron hammers made a long time ago were probably not made to con people out of there money but for some kind of special work where it didn't matter
  4. Getting one new bottom sowplate key made and I had a chemical analysis done on top block witch turns out its mild steel, took that to to heat treatments to get some carbon put into the face, It has lasted a very long time not being hard, this might help it but it might not, I can always get a new block made.
  5. I am pretty sure the low grade tools were alot better than the ones now, like cast iron claw hammers and mild steel screwdrivers that the handel snapps off
  6. Not as bad as the Chinese cast iron hammer that basically exploded
  7. When I was driving the bottom block key out the side flaked off the hand hammer with such force it put a ding in the wall.
  8. Now the hammer can actually function as it should.
  9. My 1st forge was a Landrover brakedrum
  10. It has a 1937 ford v8 flywheel in the firepot.
  11. This was the 1st fire in this forge in over 50 years or more.
  12. I got this one a few months ago, its a no brand thing. Its missing the cutting table but I will make one.
  13. Thats a 12" round bar getting CNC milled down, that block of steel cost 1k it was hard to find to, big waiting lists for things now, I was luckily to get it,
  14. Getting a new sowplate made in 1045 steel, I am getting it made 2" higher, also had to grind the top block flat on its face and I am making a new dovtail key as it had some hand forged rubbish. The new sow plate is costing over 3/4 of what I payed for the hammer
  15. I have started using Anthracite coal because I got a ton for $20 its a bit frustrating and takes longer to heat up steel, fire doesn't like to be deep, but for the work I do is ok and for the price I wont complain
  16. The hammer has been set up for some kind of tooling, I suspect the sow plate has been lowered, the dovetail in the sow plate is damaged and beyond repair. Its actually worse than it looks, thats compacted scale and oil making it look solid, it just crumbles away, I am going to see about getting a new one made, is there a chart for dovetail sizes ? Would be good to give the info the shop doing the work,
  17. $15177 USD for a 40kg Anyang, that same money would get you an old hammer witch is much bigger and better. It definitely would where I am.
  18. Got it together now, what a huge job it has been, will bend the split pins over when I know it doesn't need to come apart again.
  19. This was my poodle Archie, he got cancer and died not long ago, hope to get another poodle soon as we now have a rabbit problem.
  20. Sounds like our place, power could be off for 9 days in a row which means no pump, no running water, no way to do washing, and the people with the fancy septic tanks with the pumps cannot use the toilet at all.
  21. Yes thats what the doctor said, had a sample tested to.
  22. Its been fitted to the hammer for a very very long time
  23. I get kidney stones really badly if I don't drink enough, its not painful but its not nice.
