  4. I bought a Delta bench grinder from Lowes a several years ago that ran slow when it was below 20 degrees. I didn't use it very much when it was cold so I didn't worry about it, by the next winter it was fine and never has failed to start right up since and it's about 10 years old now. I stopped dealing with Sears years ago because of too many problems with electric tools and not getting it straightened out in a reasonable amount of time without being ugly to them. I'll never set foot in another Sears for anything, if I want cheap for occasional use I go with Harbor Freight.
  5. I was flooded by wonderful memories after reading your poem tonight John, Thank you for that. It will always hang in my shop. JW

  9. I use a 2lb13oz Hofi style by Doug Merkel and a 2lb farrier style double faced rounding hammer, on small material usually an old blacksmith made double faced maybe 20oz--- nothing special but really has great balance, all with short handles shaped to suit my grip. Those handles to the length of your forearm just don't suit me very well for some reason.
  10. To the North---Jefferson Nat'l Forest and Big Walker Mtn,to the West neighbors pastures and cows then more J N F,to the East another neighbors cows and pastures then more J N F, to the South our hayfields, pastures, cows, wild Mallards on pond (when they're migrating), Reed Creek. Turkeys and deer unless they're in season in any direction. Seldom see black bear but see where they've been often or the tell tale smell.

  16. Here in SW Virginia prices jumped from $3.55 to $3.99, the owner of our local station said he would be out by 7pm this evening and his supplier did not know when he could get more but it would probably jump another 80 to 95 cents per gallon if they could get it. If refineries are damaged tonight it could be weeks before we get fuel again
