  1. 3-1 sand-cement is basic brick mortar.
  2. You might have luck with the evaporust stuff I linked to earlier havnt used it on something that crusty but have read some incredible things...
  3. Put the sand, it may help a bit with weight but also will deaden any vibrations.
  4. evapo-rust may work wonders for you. http://www.evaporust.com/evaporust.html
  5. Wow ,I thought your house got carried away in a tornado, wizard of oz style.
  6. I always like the background in industrial settings: A bunch of guys on a scaffold or some such multi-level setting, all with 9" grinders and/or cutting torches just to mindlessly make large showers of sparks
  7. I may have it, if you know what disks it on. I should have several system 9 disks around, just have to find them and see what is there. Is that helpful?
  8. You should put the lower shelf on the base for this, I have one with and it makes it quite sturdy. It probably already has holes to bolt it to. The ones that came with one it is just a light sheet metal pan but a friend got one like yours and he did 1/2" sq tube frame and expanded metal after I told him he needed it. Good saw. By removing the back vice jaw you can cut 8" material. You might want to check the oil in the gearbox as well, mine had just a light smear of grease when I got it, now has gear oil in it.
  9. Congrats on a good score. Place in Tennessee called Paper Pulleys makes all sort of flat pulleys. Here is a link: http://www.paperpulleys.com/pages/home.html r smith PS I hope you know to have the "clutch" pulley on the slack side of the belt, NOT the driven side.
  10. Use a blower from a car that is only a single squirrel cage and also get the speed control switch for it. Voila- instant variable speed fan. Some fans use a double shaft motor with 2 fans, dont think that is what you want. Car fans are powerful when you eliminate all the ductwork they must blow through. More details on your rocket stove, they are for cooking efficently arn't they?
  11. I base the 8K number on the stated condition (very good), and extra dies and tooling to go with it. Some recent sales on fleabay for mechanical hammers : Rebuilt Little Giant 50 lb@ $5000, rebuilt 25lb LG @ $4306, Kerihard 30 lb @ $3250 2 more LG @ 2800 ea, 1 25lb , 1 50lb, and no longer listed the anyang/striker 165 that sold for aprox $7800, about 1/2 of new value. Also a big blu 155 on there with a buy it now of $5900. Kuhn is a way better hammer than any mentioned above in my limited opinion. Is 40% off of new a fair price if in new condition?
  12. Thanks Eric, I hope that she gets its fair value, sounds like it was not used much. I would try to get $8000 if I was selling it. Does that sound right to the experts?? smith
  13. Please forgive my ignorance but what is the hypercard stack? Sounds useful if from yellins records.
  14. the add has been deleted but here is the text. for $2800: This German made power hammer is a remakable tool for the serious blacksmith or metal worker. Hard to find, this is a Model K-O, 3hp, 230/460 volt. I am selling this for a friend who's husband is deceased. I know nothing about this tool other than it works and has seen only moderate use. Serious buyers will be given the opportunity to test it out. I should also say this is one heavy dude and is bolted to a concrete filled frame. Buyer will need to be able to remove it. We are asking $2,800 for the machine, base and any accessories that we can determine go with it. Please reply with a name and phone number so I can call you. Check this link to see original spec sheets on the Type K-O hammer: http://www.beautifuliron.com/tempImages/scans/AirHammer1989_KuhnHammersBigIssue_2.jpg
  15. I believe add borax until no more will disolve in the water, so a heavy concentration of it.
  16. First place I found on line that was not 10 ton minimum, $35 per 50 lb bag. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steel-Shot-Blast-Media-S170-50-Bag-Shot-Blast-/190389069082?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5412a51a#ht_578wt_943
  17. Is this the same model? Good deal? http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/tls/3102944865.html
