  1. I started off with RR track as an anvil. I learned enough and made enough money with it to buy my first "real" anvil. Never short change the cheap simple item.It can do a whole lot for you. Finnr
  2. 16x24 is the planned size of my shop. Should have plenty of room (for now). Finnr
  3. Only thing copper ever did for my arthritis was turn my wrist green. Finnr
  4. The debate over food safe finishes has raged for years. An article in a major woodworking magazine some time back looked into the situation. The verdict was that ALL modern finishes are safe after fully curing. Most are not rated foodsafe though due to the cost of testing to get that designation. Finnr
  5. Regular kitchen type oils will in time become rancid. A rancid knife STINKS! Once dry (about 30 days ) ANY commonly available finish is inert. I use a lot of boiled linseed oil straight from the hardware store. Finnr
  6. I vote to lock the thread down it is no longer serving any useful purpose. Finnr
  7. I like that! It flows nicely! Finnr
  8. I have to agree with Rich here and thank him as well. I am one of the people that he patiently helped. With out His coaching I would never have done my first billet. Now Whipping up a pattern weld isn't easy but I am pretty sure that following what he has said the thing is going to work. As for me if asked , Sure I'll lend a hand and share anything I know. If the questioner won't take the time to put that information to use then I am finished as well. Finnr
  9. Looks just fine to me Willy. Keep us posted! Finnr

  12. For bone handles I fill the marrow cavity with epoxy and sawdust. While it is still not set I insert the tang. Finnr
  13. Get them red hot and tuck them in aq material that keeps air away. Pearlite, ashes and a host of other things will work. The main thing is a slow cool down. Finnr
  14. Amazing work. I like it a lot. Nicely done for sure! Finnr

    Finnr's Mom

After a day and a half of R&R I'm headed back down to mom's place. Shouldn't be too long until she is up and running and I can stay home. Thanks to all who have expressed good wishes! Finnr

    Finnr's Mom

Update on Mom. I am home for a couple days while a cousin stays with Mom. She is healing fast and nearly has the use of the hand she skinned up back. A bit more PT and healing and she will be up and running well. I will be going back Saturday morning to stay a while longer while she finishes healing up. Thanks to all who have been keeping her in their prayers! Finnr / Art
