February 7, 200917 yr I don't know if anybody is interested, but this 100 lb. anvil is listed as a steel anvil-Regards Butch100 lb. Steel Anvil (WT Import) at Wholesale Tool Company | Industrial Machinery + Tool Supply
February 7, 200917 yr Author Could possibly be cast steel ,don't know,if so it would be worth it.I personally would want to put a hammer to it:D
February 8, 200917 yr I know that I haven't seen any more of the russian submarines from HF, but I got mine for less than a dollar a pound. that one there scares me. YOu can buy a better pieces of scrap metal to bang on for less than 200
February 8, 200917 yr If that hardie hole is 1", that anvil CAN'T be 17-5/8" long!!!! It is more like 9" long which means it CAN'T be 100 lbs. Very suspicious. They also have a 55# "steel" anvil and a 9# "Drop forged" anvil that look just like the cast iron ASO's sold at HF. Edited February 8, 200917 yr by Quenchcrack
February 8, 200917 yr It would be pretty unhandy to have a pritchel that comes out the very bottom of the anvil? I don't see this one being very good, and I have an HF ASO in reserve, so I know a marginal anvil when I see one. Price is pretty high too.
February 8, 200917 yr It looks like it was carved from styrofoam then painted to look like anvil color. POS in my book. buyer beware!!
February 8, 200917 yr I have noticed a few of the budget places also are on a tight budget with it comes to their advertising, and server space too. For example a few used the same photo for all the anvils they sell. I noticed that when I enlarged the pic that they each had the same name and file size. I would not be surprised if this place share photo;'s too.
February 8, 200917 yr i would say its cast to if you look under the heal you can see the parting line in the casting and i would question it shape also
February 8, 200917 yr At the risk of being repetitious, I recommend joining your local blacksmithing group and trying out the equipment that other people have. Then you can make an educated decision. You can also find out what excess equipment members of the group may wish to sell or trade.
February 8, 200917 yr Rsilver, hope you know we are not pickin' on you. We always appreciate info about smithing tools. Not too sure this one is a bargain but thanks for posting it.
