November 9, 200817 yr Chris, your new shop is looking good! I've been working on my shop and thought I'd take a look at your progress. You will enjoy having a warm dry place for your tools and yourself.....it makes the work much easier having a good place to do the work. You've probably discovered the same thing I discovered a couple months ago.....that building a new shop is a lot of fun.....but also.....a lot of work! Do you remember being in the chat room a while back? ( I think there were about six of us....all of us building new shops! Maybe it has to do with winter coming on.......and needing a place to work on those cold January days......... Hope you get that roof on.......and good luck with the new shop! James flannery
December 23, 200817 yr Author I got the new forge moved in ( aint got the stove pipe going through the roof yet). The anvil and new vice is laid out where I want it. here are some pics.
December 23, 200817 yr Author Once I get my stove pipe through the roof I `ll , then worry about the PV pad and eletric LOL. Chris
December 23, 200817 yr Author the stove pipe wikll be going throw the roof ASAP ( hopefully next wedsday if not sooner). If your working hard enough you dont need a wood stove.
February 2, 200917 yr Author We got the shop finshed til spring , when the old tin roof will be shingled. But its good till then. Here are some pics. Have fired er up 2 times.
February 2, 200917 yr Author I want to make a point to Thank Jeff (unkle spike) and my great uncle and my freind from school for helping finsh my shop up!!!! I REALLY appericate it!!!!

February 2, 200917 yr thats a great looking smithy, music very important, helps get you into the groove, whats that half moon shape on your door?best regards...keep on keeping on
February 2, 200917 yr Your welcome Chris, glad I could help. BTW the horse shoe above the door needs to go with the Opening UP! That way all the good luck won't drain out. (old farriers superstition). Shop looks good, just don't add a bunk bed to it and you will be fine....
February 2, 200917 yr Author Jeff, The thing is if its over a smithy it supposed to be down, there is a bp on Blacksmithing myths and such. Chris
February 2, 200917 yr Chris, I think the story is that if it is over the forge it goes face down so that the luck runs into the forge. Either way you have one heck of a nice shop. I am jealous. Doug
February 2, 200917 yr i think its over the forge so the luck drains into the forge for a blacksmith for a farrier its up
