brucegodlesky Posted September 11, 2008 Author Share Posted September 11, 2008 Thanks for the kind words fellas, I appreciate it! I used RWWilson's Majestic maple(chromic acid) to color the handle. The finish is Watko danish Oil done up in a stockmakers finish. I like hard maple a lot more than the soft variety. Takes a little longer to do the oil finish but make sfor a better job. Bob, I use ferric chloride to etch and sometimes vinegar, and sometimes both. Depend son the acid, but it stays in for 10-15 minutes, into the TSP then cleaned up with 0000steelwool then repeated till I get the desired effect.
