Anvil identification, Looks like a fisher

Hey everyone, 

I recently found this anvil over here in the Netherlands and at first thought it was a Fisher but i dont see the brand on the side but it does have the marking on one of the feet, im going to take a look at it soon. Any info would be appriciated

Looks like a good anvil, what's the weight and price?

Do the ball bearing test.  If it's good then it's a good anvil no matter who made it!

You need to test it, it's in great condition but it may be a cheap cast iron copy of a Fisher and you don't want to buy bad equipment.

It certainly "looks" like a Fisher. If I remember correctly Fisher did make some anvils that had a stick on paper label. 

I read somewhere that Russia was producing anvils that looked like them. I have a Russian 55 pound anvil that looks kinda like it with the exception of the stubby horn. As Thomas said if it passes the ring and rebound test it's a good anvil no matter where it was made.

I just happen to have one. We use it as our traveling anvil, rings like a bell with about 70% rebound.

It weighs 50KG and I'm getting it for 220 Euro

The rebound is about 85%

n.b.  Fishers won't ring but are great anvils!  Cast iron ASO's won't ring and are terrible excuses for an anvil shaped object!

I ran across a fisher shaped object this morning. I could only get between 30-50% rebound. Didn’t have a hammer but the bearing wasn’t getting much ring. No marking other than 10 cast on one foot.

Sounds like a low grade cast iron ASO; ABJURE IT!

I suppose if applied to the makers. Individually I was going to say anonymous interment is all the recognition they deserve but perhaps nick and pitch from retailers?
