ausfire
I'm just blown away. I had just finished my demo today when Morrie (alias Brasso) showed up and presented me with the brass buckle that he had cast using my forge and scrap brass. It is highly polished and bears the serial number A001. Morris may well make more of these, but this one is special and it will be treasured. Now to make a belt for it and then it's straight to the pool room. (Australians will know what that means.) Thank you, Morris.
Daswulf
That's a great gift Aus. I looked it up I did initially think something like what we call here a pool hall aka billiards. Made more sense once I looked it up.
Lou L
What an excellent gift. I can imagine most everyone here wants one.
Brasso
Glad you like it!! I hope it doesn't go "straight" to the pool room... I need to know if it will wear well. I have a dozen or so to make for a local club and they need them to last! Twas fun making it.... enjoy Aus.. The "A" stands for anvil and the 001 is obvious. ausfire
Well, 'straight' to the pool room was a little figurative; merely an expression of my esteem for the object in question. (I don't even have a pool room.) I guess our friends in the U.S. wonder what we are on about. "Straight to the pool room" is a quote from a well known Australian movie " The Castle " . The pool room was the repository for anything which had great sentimental value. As I said, only Australians would understand the reference. (And Das, your initial thoughts were right - the pool room would have contained a pool table)
Charles R. Stevens
Typically a us pool room was a business establishment where one went to play pool. Typically rather seedy establishments tord the end .
ThomasPowers
and Trouble right here in River City! My little village still has an old adobe building that you can just make out "Pool Hall" on even though it hasn't been used as one for 50 years or so...(we have *1* business still in town, the old corner store...)
