Jack Underwood
So I made my first pair of tongs so I don't have to use my Chanel-locks anymore. Used half inch rebar, not perfect but I think they will work for what I'm doing
swedefiddle
Good Morning, Great start, don't be PO'd if they crack with use. You will learn to put a joggle in the pivot point area, after you bump the material up a little bit. To get started, first you must Start, You have started. Learn from all your projects and don't forget to focus on the little things (the ones that make it Look and Work better). One of my lady students asked me one day "That's OK, but how do you make it Pretty?" There is a Lesson in that question, it is one step away!! Dustin Quade
Good for you man, i have only ever made 1 pair of tongs but i did that under the supervision of my teacher and got to use his power hammer to draw out the reigns. I bought some 1" x 1/4" stock for the task last weekend and hopefully mine turn out as good as yours.

Lewis, "If you do one good deed, your reward usually is to be set to do another and harder and better." Repetition is the mother of skill! Jackdawg
Looks nice. My first effort at tongs is sitting half completed waiting for some fine weather to fie up the forge, and mine looks no where near as neat as yours!
