Miniature Shop Equipment

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone I'm new to IFI. Recovering from shoulder surgery started making some miniature shop equipment. The set to date fits in a space 10"x 14". Does anyone else do stuff like this?

OMG thats cool. That anvil is far out. Wow

Have you fired the forge yet? Do the bellows and vice work? I think that is pretty cool honestly. Nice.

Amazing work. Nice attention to detail and colors too. Keep going and you could have a whole town.

Well Ptree built a working powerhammer he wore on his hat at Quad-State one year---they forged a straight pin with it; and at one quad state a fellow had built a miniature working shop and fired it up for us to see.  So yup some folks do do that sort of thing.  Your set would look lovely as part of a Christmas village under the Christmas tree...

It's the *postvise* that has me drooling!

I've had the privilege of seeing this set in person, it truly is stunning.  But still....Al.....get back to work, you've had enough time to rehab that shoulder!  LOL!!   :D

Shoulder rehab? Sounds like the ideal excuse to invest in a power hammer myself.

Thanks for the nice comments. The forge has had a fire in it the bellows work, but not as well as I would like. The vise opens and closes and the jaws line up, and are as wide as a dime.

Very cool Al, thanks for the peak at your version of rehab, sure beats mine.  Have a clear pic of the swage block?

Al,

I love it, the vice is insane! I could use it for tying flies! Again, beautiful work! Best of luck with the busted wing.

I like it all especially the post vice. Did you plan for a whole blacksmith shop or did you start with just the anvil and it grew?

Thanks Stan & Forging Carver. The set started with the anvil that a friend cast for me almost 20 years ago. I put it on the stand for a paper weight, and have added to the set over the years as "play time" allowed.  Most of the work has been done since my shoulder surgery in mid. Nov.

Had some "play time" today. Made a couple of new hammers. Hammer heads are forged hex stock. Handles are wood match sticks.
