I Forge Iron

A little rough for wear...

Had to run out to the garage and make sure the vice I got at Quad-State was still there; looks like siblings down to the condition!  I have re-drilled the pivot hole slightly larger as the original pegged bolt was broken at the peg hole and it was wallered a bit too

Does your screwbox have a forge welded seam in the tube?

Goodness Charles I know you don't like to work harder than you have to but buying a basket case post vise? Is it really that much easier to load? Maybe fits in the trunk of the wife's car so she doesn't notice more rusty iron coming home?

The screw looks pretty good from here, if the box thread is good too I'm thinking it's a home run.

So do I. I wonder how long it'll be before someone asks what kind of swage you need to make them and if it'll work in a guillotine tool. Not that it wasn't the very first smart Alec thing that came to my mind you understand.

I still really like the idea, saves a bunch of upsetting. Nice job Charles.
