June 9, 201411 yr Tantalium, though how you are going to heat it in a practical application would be interesting to know. keep us posted, and don't poke your eye out with that thing.
June 9, 201411 yr If all you want is a red glowing blade H-13 is your stuff, it'll even be a decent blade at red heat. Not great but a blade. Frosty The Lucky.
June 10, 201411 yr Author What lol I had to go back and look at my reply. I never said I didnt like like the idea of H13 Steve. I think its a great suggestion. Im looking at all the possibilities to see which will work best. Theres going to be a lot of testing in that respect. Im thinking of trying som H13 just to see what it will do as a comparison to something like ceramic.
June 11, 201411 yr Tungsten. The pure stuff, you don't want tungsten carbide, as it's brittle even when cold (as many of those guys with the cool black wedding rings could tell you). Like has been said previously though, good luck working it. You may to go through one of the companies that deals with non-standard metals like zirconium, hafnium, nickel-ti, that kinda thing. ATI Wah Chang in Huntsville used to work with it, but I'm not sure they still do or that they'd bother with that small of an order. Have you considered a mithril/adamantium alloy quenched in virgins' blood and tempered in the fire of dragons or possibly a light saber? :P (hiya steve!)
