Welcome aboard Heather, glad to have you.

I can barely make out the pic but it looks like a round headed brad, maybe brass or steel with a light rust patina.

What's it used on? The application can tell you a lot. That small and round headed I'd bet it's decorative but I'm wrong so often I wouldn't bet on it. Heck, it could be intended as a contact for a detonator controller. Very unlikely but possible.

I would think that a 1/4" round head brad could fit the bill, that is just a guess from a bad eye with no depth perseption. That

can't spell either.

I need a little more info. Where did it come from? Are you trying to replace it or match it?
It looks like a carpet tack, or on of those tiny nails they use in the wood slats under carpets. (see pic., i'm referring to the small ones in the strip, not the larger ones that nail to the floor)
We took out our carpets and I stepped on more of those little buggers than I care to remember!

Maybe i'm way off, now that brass has been mentioned it does look like it has some sort of weathered finish.

That's better now the picture has appeared, Upholstery or leatherworkers pins look similar,

As Frosty said, the application tells you a lot, Sorry can't be more helpful re suppliers, but UK may be a little heavy on shipping cost.

good luck with it, I am sure someone on the site will be able to help.

Heather,

Go to a hobby shop or some place that sells the makings for doll houses. That looks like a copper brad.

It is from a desk over 100 years old. It was one of the pieces that attached the drawer pulls to the drawer. I'm trying to replace the ones lost when we moved.

I don't know what it is made out of . Sorry.

See if a magnet will pick it up. Yes = iron or steel, even if brass plated, No = solid brass, most likely.

No apologies Heather! If you knew the answer to everything we ask you wouldn't need us would you? So we need some clarification, we do this sort of thing all the time, it's more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Uh. . . Eh . . . I don't know if a barrel of monkeys is fun but brainstorming problems, thingy IDs etc. is so much fun it'd probably be illegal if the gvt got wind.

Seriously, few things in life beat being presented with a good question. We love em.
