Black Frog
Any closeup of the side in the 5th picture? Flats on the base are associated with Peter Wrights....
Frank Turley
No numbers, eh? Are those shelf-like steps on the base under horn and heel? Peter Wright did that, but otherwise, your anvil doesn't have a PW appearing base. It might be a Swedish make, as I have seen one Kohlswa with the steps. I'll go out on a limb. I don't think that it is a Hay-Budden because of the way the horn joins the waist. So there! I don't know.

mechanicsage
the steps are under the horn and heel, yeah, I can make out a 305 on the side of the anvil i assume this is the hundred weights measurement, 305 = 341 pounds as i stated above. p.s i used an industrial scale to measure the weight of the anvil before hand. MOblacksmith0530
That is a horribly ugly anvil and you shouldn't have it in your shop ship it to me and I will hide it for you..... Seriously though I don't know what it is but it resembles english pattern anvils and I know that is no help.
mechanicsage
I got the grinder and polishing piece out this morning and gave the whole anvil a good polishing up, especially the side where the 3 0 5 were punched in and have uncovered some markings however I cant make any sense of them, :( thanks guys for your responses :)
Farmall
It does look like a PW and I believe I can make out most of the words "Solid Wrought" in a circle around where the "O" is stamped
Frozenforge
You can kinda make out where it says PATENT then below that ENGLAND and the SOLID WROUGHT in a circle around the center number. That would, according to AIA, place it being made after 1910. 341lb for $250 bucks! Nice.

macbruce
Yeah, PW....I can make out ATE (pATEnt)a few inches above the 305.....
Fatfudd
It would be a wrought iron body with a steel face plate, They are good anvils and yours looks to be very nice.
Jeff Lodge
You can see where it says Solid Wrought around the middle number. Like Macbruce says it's a Peter Wright.
ThomasPowers
You can tell from that chipped edge that it has a steel plate---and how thick it still is.
Loneforge
Our PW has the same circular Solid Wrought stamping as this. And the same numbering pattern for the weight. I think it's a PW too!
