Marksnagel
From what my old eyes can see, it appears to be a clamp or vise of some sort. Or an olive squisher for extracting olive oil. Or an......... I'll stick with the clamp/vise theory. Mark <><
Timothy Miller
I don't know what it is but I'm fairly sure its not a blacksmiths vise. looks kind of like some sort of wheel wrights tool but the picture is too small to really know. broncstomper
sorry i cant get these pics bigger.when i took my grandpas forge apart to relocate it to my shop this was mounted on a post set in the ground just outside his smithy. ive seen it all my life but never asked what it was for. now papa and daddy are dead and i cant figure this thing out. the arm works like a cam. the jaws are molded to match each other. theres a pin inside kindof like a tooth. thanks for the replies. broncstomper
well i have some old mule drawn plow sweeps and they are a perfect fit for the vise. looks like it is for forming or reforming plows.
Tran
Any Better?
VaughnT
Wagon tyre riveter. The handle cams the two jaws together with some serious force and the tooth prevents the tire from popping out as the rivets are upset. Hard to say with such a grainy picture, though the last is certainly better than the first.
