Daniel.85
Thats a good lookin forge! You'll have to take some pictures of it when you fire it up. Everything in your shop really shows you put a lot of time and effort into it, organized and useful, I like it!

DClaville
that is a very impressive forge shop the hammer table is cool but IMO it takes up way too much space you could have the same tool well more tools really on about 3x3feet of wall space with some easy to make racks and after working for a few years the table is going to be too small anyway for the tool you have made by then ;) also like the stove keep planning on getting one my self. crush
Your shop looks killer, I gotta say your forge is a beauty
David Gaddis
I have enjoyed your "growth" pictures of your smithy. You have used a good ethical approach to your design. But being not soooo far North....I think you might consider installing a series of fold-out windows in the side for cooling when it gets a bit warmer. Down where we live we start with windows, then the roof, cause everyone knows how hot a smithy can be, moreover down SOUTH. carry on
Pug}{maN
I thought about hinging the whole top half back wall. But I did make huge front doors that slide completely open for a 8 foot by 8 foot opening . Will see I have a feeling it's going to be hot no matter what
VaughnT
That's beautiful, hoss. I love a brick forge, and I think you nailed the hood just right. Can't wait to see how you grow the shop in a few years.....
Daniel.85
A work of art! A nice mechanical powerhammer would look great in there.
Ridgewayforge
I think It might need a bit more dust, dirt, scale and rust. :) Signs of a used shop, although those will come in time! Excellent build, looks like a great place!

John McPherson
I can not see your flue vents from the front photo of your shop, and I should. Exhaust needs to be 3' higher than the top of the building, and 6' would not hurt. Rather than enclosing more of your hood inside, try adding another section higher on your flue outside. 9 times out of 10, that fixes problems with smoky fireplaces and forges. Been There, Done That. Pug}{maN
The buildings roof has a 2 foot rise. The pipe comes out of the lowest point in the back and it comes up 3 feet. So its 1 foot over the peak. And 12 feet away from the peak. It draws very well but when you first start it with green Cole It overwhelms the hood till it heats up. So I'm not for sure what the problem is
John McPherson
There is some magic formula for total length to width in flues, but my answer stands: make it taller. Or don't, your call. It has been the answer every time I tried.

Pug}{maN
got a 24 in pice to add , also got this 6 in. of dampener... so thats all most 3 foot on top of the 3 foot i had...so its all most 6 foot , that will put it 4 foot over the top of the building.. we will see if that helps...
