macbruce Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Ever put your mig gun down on a less than stable place and return to find a huge ball of wire growing where you thought you put it? Just follow the wire and you'll find it! Or...... Quote
Old N Rusty Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I did that and very carefully walked the mess out into the driveway so i could re-wind it on the spool , too cheapskate to waste an inch of wire. Quote
beth Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 yes and its always bouncing off on the floor and springing about the place. nice mac bruce - simple but useful :) Quote
Steve Sells Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I like that rig, also my century MIG does not turn off the electricty to the fed wire when trigger is off, so any grounded contact with the extruded wire will ZAP! so thats a good solution for me. TY Quote
mudbugone Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Harbor Freight sells one with a magnetic base for about $10 that holds the torch head (if you use it--don't ask) http://www.harborfreight.com/magnetic-mig-torch-rest-3642.html You could copy it or a better homebuilt is a short tube that you insert the torch head into.... your choice of mounts. The factory one takes into account the hot wire since the Harbor Freight machines are that way too. I tend to just lay the torch down instead of using either which is really dumb... Quote
tzonoqua Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 yep, that's brilliant!! might steal that one!! Quote
iron woodrow Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 we have a ring welded to each corner of the bench to put the gun into. makes for a much more user friendly environment! nice thinking macbruce Quote
teenylittlemetalguy Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I happen to just have a handy hole on the bench top that I stick the head into. not planned but worked for me. yours is nice and portable. Quote
macbruce Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 Put the mig away today and forgot to include the holder, then I did a little heating on the table and there it was........... Quote
tzonoqua Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 We love a multi-use tool accessory!!! Quote
rthibeau Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 one of my post vises is in the right location and is handy to drap the oxy/acet torch or the mig gun over the handle part Quote
Frosty Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 My old Hobart mig gun has a hanger hook on it and a coffee can with a little weight in it works fine. Then again mine is off when I release the trigger so hanging it is mostly to keep it clean and out of the way. Still, that's a nice hanger and my torch can use one, heck, I have lots of stuff that'd benefit from such a hanger. Thanks for the tip. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
Randy Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 HF sells this one for $10.00. I was going to cut out a similar shape holder, but for $10 it's not worth the time and it includes a magnetic base. Quote
Ten Hammers Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Short pieces of pipe ( or pipe pockets ) work. Large washers work. Permanent or temporary. Tack to the table and adjust to fit the need. Stick the nozzle through. Quote
