edge9001
drive it into the ground and hook the ground connection of your house or shop to it
bigfootnampa
I've been told that the softer copper will move so much easier than the steel that they are likely to separate while being forged... I've not tried it personally.
Steve Sells
that is normal and standard for grounding rods.
jeremy k
What was your purpous for the initial purchase? The steel or copper?
pkrankow
Those make good stakes as is for garden stuff. Socket the decoration and put it on top. Phil
ThomasPowers
1: can you return it for $$ or credit? 2: If not can you work it into projects as a piece that doesn't get forged?
Bentiron1946
Been there and tried to forge one very early on and decided to forget it. They are good for one thing and that is as intended, a ground rod. <_<

pkrankow
I got fooled cleaning out my aunt's garage once. I thought I had 500# of copper ground cable in the truck, and went to recycle, as the garage was falling down. Well, it was copper plated steel, 500# of it. I didn't believe the guy till he stuck a magnet to it and handed me a file! That was disappointing, I only got paid the recycling to tear the garage down (and had to return my parent's truck with a full tank too) After hauling 4 trips of steel, I PULLED the garage down with a chain in one go. I think I cleared $200 or so. Phil
