My favorite hammer is my craftsman 40oz crosspein i have others that i use, a 6lb mini sledge and a cheapo 3lb crosspein converted to a rounding hammer.

I do plan on making my own hammer in the future not sure what i want to make yet tho.

Every day ,  my Haberrmann 1.3 kg (2.8 lbs) is the one hammer I use constantly. I also use, sometimes, a Picard 1 kg crosspein. And a cheap 2 kg sledge hammer.

Typically my 3lb White House cross pein. Though I made up a 2.5 -3 lb rounding hammer which is becoming my go to hammer.

I've a 1.5lb French pattern which also sees a lot of use. Could do with being a 2lb'er really, as its just a bit too light really.

How the hell are you guys swinging 5lb+ hammers all day?

Andy

I have  2 1/2 lb , 3.7 lb and 5 lb rounding hammers I made with Ed Brazeal.  I have found that I use the 5lb almost exclusively although I do use the 2.5 lb for really small stuff. The only time I find myself using the 3.7 is when I need to strike hand tools at the vise.

I have no hammer since my since my loving son ran off with my Brazeal 3.5 lb !!!

Alright Kainon....a hammer for a striking anvil?  I'll strike if you direct.

cheers,  chris

I have found for my small projects I prefer cross peens in the 2.5 to 3.5 pound range.

My most used hammer is a 3.7 Brian Brazeal rounding hammer, but for smaller things sometimes I grab a 2.2 straight peen I reforged from an old ball peen ( use this for a lot of upsetting too) and a Big Blu 2.6 rounding hammer.
