June 27, 200916 yr Here is my latest blade. It is a collaboration between my five-year-old daughter and myself. The knife started out as a skinner but due to a crack that appeared after hardening I tossed the blade in a fit of frustration in my knifemaking box. One day as I was working on another blade my little one came up and asked if she could help Dad make a knife. So I gave her the defective blade and a marker, showed her where the blade was cracked and said she could redesign the knife. Well here is her modification on what I thought was a lost cause. OAL is 8.5" with a whitetail antler/leather washer hand and brass guard. Sorta makes a Dad proud.
June 27, 200916 yr That's very attractive. I'm not much into skinners with all the belly but this one has a good bit without looking like it. Is it as well balanced in the hand as it is to my eye? You might want to put her on the design staff. Frosty
June 27, 200916 yr I like it, too. It is good and looks functional and traditional. The story elevates it to another level, entirely. thanks for sharing. Kevin
June 27, 200916 yr Any time spent with your daughter is a win win deal, and that is one very nice knife, she has my admiration!! oh, you do too!!
June 27, 200916 yr I agree with Frosty. That girl needs to design more knives with Dad. Beautiful work and a more beautiful tale behind it.
