  1. Jasent, what part of the beaver are you eating? and how do you cook it? I would like to try it.
  2. Cook it on the forge and it's what you did in the shop today.
  3. You're making me hungry. Carrots and taters are good all by themselves. That's why they're good with any game.
  4. I've eaten possum and coon and they're about the same. Possum's more trouble cause you have to feed them out for a week. They are fatty also but you pressure cook them for 30 minutes and gets a lot of the fat out. Coon is delicious.
  5. I've heard groundhogs are good to eat. You ever tried them?
  6. It would be nice to have a thread dedicated to warning people of the hazards of these certain dangerous compounds. Maybe save a life.
  7. I don't do plated anything. My brother welds galvy all the time because it's free. Can't tell him anything. Watch out for that yellow metal. Cadmium will kill you, period.
  8. Looks chrome plated to me. You can grind it off pretty easily and make it safe.
  9. They are so funny to watch. They really are great layers though.
  10. I got some isa browns last year and I think they are the best laying chickens I ever had. I don't think they have missed a day this winter. the girls just had to have a duck so I wound up with a green headed male, a pekin and a runner. That runner lays as well as any chicken I ever had. A huge delicious egg. I'm thinking about some more of those.
  11. I been laying low a good bit but I've been watching and you guys are getting good at this. You're making hand forged pieces that look like they were machined. Hopefully I'll be firing my forge again soon. I have my last treatment tomorrow so maybe I'll start feeling more like swinging a hammer. Billybones, great forging. Beautifull work. CtG, I like those horse heat bottle openers. Das, did you get the jeep fixed? I must have missed that. What did you find?
  12. Congrats Pnut. Keep doing what you're doing. We need you just as much as you need us. You've been a great help to me and I appreciate that.
  13. I was told green persimmons would do that.
  14. I think he didn't believe the one last time part.
  15. Thanks. Since I'm this far I will fire it tomorrow. If it cracks, I will know why. Stand by, I'll have more questions.
  16. IFC, what will that do? Straight out of the ground it feels smooth and just a little gritty. It's like concrete now. Tomorrow I'll see what happens when I put a hot fire on it. You're the pro on clay. I'll be asking you some questions because I'm planning to do more with this clay. After all, I've got about 20 trillion tons of it.
  17. OK, I made a modification. My fire ball didn't have enough depth so I moved my tuyere so it's sticking out about 1 1/2" through the brick. Problem is, it is going to burn. So I've been wanting to try some of this Alabama red clay. I clayed it about a week ago so it's pretty dry now. This stuff is like concrete. Don't know why I didn't try it instead o the cat litter. I'll redo the whole thing soon and I will let you know how it holds up. Anybody ever had a red forge? BTW this added a couple of inches to my fireball.
  18. Good things come to those who wait.
  19. That's what I did. I took forks from a fork lift, cut the uprights, matched the surfaces, clamped them tight and welded them. Mine is 4x4. 4x8 would be great.
  20. Looks good. You can always use it standing on end. What kind of steel is it?
  21. Sorry to hear that. Good luck finding a new spot. Maybe even one under a roof.
  22. I used some of this good ole Alabama red clay the other day. I'm going to get the kitty litter out and reclay my forge with it.
