  1. Thank you for the video!!! I will be making some of these for the 628 lb anvil in importing.
  2. Mine is going on my 2x72. Not a cheap stone wheel. This is a serrated rubber with an aluminum hub and a 30 mm ID bearing.
  3. Alec Steele's anvil is cast at the same foundry as rhino anvils!!!
  4. I have a 6 inch contact wheel that I'm setting my grinder up to use. It's just a cheap ebay wheel. Hopefully its balanced ok.
  5. Thank you. In order for me to upload pictures I figured out to send them to a landline or someone you want to share them with then download them back to my phone and it resized them automatically. Then the upload goes way faster.
  6. Forged an axe and a hammer. and split my power hammer flatter down the center. Also forged these a few days ago. These were done completely with the power hammer
  7. I may be able to grind a wider fuller and be able to save it. here is the new blade. I'm a little further than shown in the photo. I'm shooting for an Oakeshott Type X
  8. Toronto blacksmith sells tongs and a local hardware might have a steel rack for tong stock.
  9. Toronto blacksmith sells tongs
  10. I havent gotten that far yet. Maybe I will work on it today some.
  11. I punched the eye instead of cutting through it. I handled it and its really nice feeling to use. I will get a weight and pictures in a while.
  12. My last shipment I had sent to Chicago and this shipment I'm having sent to Detroit because of the coronavirus. I pick them up at the terminal. Chicago is 130 miles from my house. Detroit is 190 miles from my house. I do use a broker which cost me around $200. Shipping is $500 flat rate for a pallet up to 1000lbs. There are no customs duties because there antiques. If they were new there would be duties to pay. Emerald only accepts bank wires which cost me another $75. The customs broker can set up shipping to your residence though.
  13. I messaged Emerald and asked him some questions about my anvil and he sent me video of the rebound and ring of the anvil I'm buying! https://photos.app.goo.gl/AfgrsnZZP3XesY9T7
  14. I'm not convinced you are able to understand what were trying to say!!!!
  15. If it's old french paint then why is the face the same color as the body. The face show evidence of use so the face should be different than the body. Ironically it's the same color as rust? That's not the one I'm buying but its identical....oh yeah and mine was weighed with chains but weighs the same?
  16. Seriously....you have no clue what your talking about. That anvil isn't covered in paint. That's rust. I repeat the anvils I got were as described and weighed exactly what the scale said. I am buying a couple more anvils from emerald as we speak. one is 628 lbs. We will see if the weight is the same when it gets here. I would put money that it is exactly as described!!!
  17. After hitting a nail with my chainsaw I resorted to the good ol' bearded axe I made a couple years ago. I love using tools I made....there is something satisfying about it!!!
  18. And we have another failed blade. This time I tried to forge the fullers in and it was a complete failure!!! I will get pictures later when I get back home. At least i can heat treat it and do some more destructive tests
  19. My anvils i got from emerald were dead on with the weights he showed in pictures!!!!
  20. This piece started as a ¾ inch piece maybe 6 inches long and upset it into a small billet. I had to keep forge welding it back together as it split. I believe the swirling in the pattern is because it was upset instead of cutting and stacking. Thank you for your reply CGL
  21. Small wrought iron hammer with a steel file face welded on.
  22. Here is a picture of my first attempt at a ball peen hammer. Let me know what you guys think.
