  1. Finished the knife I was working on, took a bit longer than expected but its done. 1084 blade, Maccassar Ebony and Redheart handle.
  2. Just finished heat treating a knife. Heat treat went well, I used a tube in my coal forge to heat it first time I've done it that way. The blade skates a file and is now tempering in the oven. Oh and Zero warp. I'm very happy the way this knife is turning out. Hopefully it will get finished today.
  3. They just slip on, make sure you forge the area that goes around the jar pretty small so it flexes. The type of jar-handle one's one of the first thing that I ever made. I made it to big though and it broke a jar (oops). Right before Michael Cochran posted I actually thought about making a few.
  4. Thanks so much LittleBlacksmith! Pretty sure I've seen some at the scrapyard! i'll have to go very soon!
  5. Can any of you post a pic of what it looks like, cause I want some but don't know what it looks like.
  6. It looks like a John brooks cast steel anvil. Still made in England today. A quick google search brought up anvil's that look just like it. Looks like you got a great deal! But depends where you are. You should add your location under the edit profile page.
  7. LittleBlacskmith I have a question I saw you mention that you square up your billets for hammer. My question is why? Does it just make it easier forge in the trough line's and fuller the cheeks. Or does it just make the hammer look nicer?
  8. Well a 20 foot stick of 1/2 round at my steel supplier is still way cheaper than online so that's good I guess.
  9. the 1/2 round was new not a drop. any way 90 cents a pound is less then I pay for drops under 100 lbs.
  10. I went to the steel supplier just to get some drops, and some new 1/2 round and 1/2 square. Is 12 dollars a good price for 20 feet of 1/2 round?
  11. Those are the same wheels I have on mine! There the ones from oregon blade maker right?
  12. Eh I would rather make one of those hold downs that goes in the pritchel hole.
  13. Is that bowie chain Damascus? I have some big chain that I was thinking of making into Damascus.
  14. I thought you were talking about my room lol! I do have the epoxy, handle material, tools waiting to be finished, and half finished projects. And I have design plans for a friction folder that I want to make soon. And I am going to make some stuff that I can show people, that I'm going to keep for myself
  15. Yup that's exactly what my room looks like. A lot of the stuff I make I give a way for birthdays and stuff like that so my room is filled with the not so good stuff.
  16. Wow that's pretty neat. I wonder what the anvil weighs by itself.
  17. That's pretty neat made me smile when I looked at it. His expression is like a smiley face and a dog tilting his head sideways. You mind I make one? Cuz I really like it.
  18. That's a very good point. Didn't think of it that way. But I think what his point was that a knife sharpened to cut steel rod won't cut a tomato the way a kitchen knife sharpened to 10 degrees will. And that that buyers of knive's and axe's should to know that.
  19. I remember when I made mine. I use it almost everyday now, still need to make more attachments.
  20. Thanks for the tip LittleBlacksmith, I'll try that on the next hammer
