really nice idea that I might steal and make for my dad, as long as you don't mind. Seems like a simple forging process, although getting the head at the correct angle seems a bit difficult.

It seems I am bettermaybe fr tom Akers ya end forge then. I don't mind the labor cause I love that stuff, but if I want to make a nice forge like Andrews, it seems that the material cost will be high. I suppose a hand cranked blower can be made as well, but I am wondering if it will be worth the money and labor the time it is done. Thanks for the photos

Guys from PA smiths, if any of the guys at a meet are selling a forge and forge blower let me know and send a few pictures if you can. I would build my own, but I figured that if everything is there for a good price, hey not get a ready made one. Also hat are the forges at your meets made of, and what is the construction of them? Thanks so much

yeah lol I know I was told. Then what I did was go look them up and add them to my favorites so I would not loose it. Well I was wrong about loosing them because my brother downloaded Windows 10 on the computer, and all the favorites I had were gone. I wrote it down too, but I think it accidentally got throw pn out because it wasn't with my other notes. I am getting s notebook to be more organized. Sorry Thanks for the help everybody.

Hi, I was gonna put this in bladesmithing, but I figured files are used in other smithing projects as well. So I was recomended Nicholson files, but I am not sure which to get. There are so many types, sizes, and cuts. Can somebody tell me what are some good files to start out with? Like what cut, roughness, size, and if flat or half round? Thanks

Hi, I am looking around to see if any of you experienced guys out there are from NJ, so that one day I can visit and learn a thing or two from you. Also if you know of any groups that get together and forge almost like a meet somewhere in NJ; NJBA is inactive or else i would join them. Thanks

Besides black smithing, I also love woodworking. I mainly carve but I do other stuff once in a while. I go to a school in Wayne NJ called the American Woodcarving School. I go every Saturday for 3.5 hours in the afternoon. This horse I have been working in since February. It is made of basswood and the brown coloring is not paint. It is woodburning that puts the hair texture which is very fine. It is going to be painted Rome color which is reddish brown and will have a White on top of the snout. The eyes are going to be dark brown and have epoxy on them which will make them look like glass. The base is going to be black and look a bit like rocks. I will post a picture when it is finished. Funny thing is that I started carving it before I knew or was interested in farriers. Let me know what you think!

Ok thanks guys I am making a post on wax reviews, and I just bought 1 pound of paraffin wax on Amazon, but it came with 3, 1 pound boxes. So I was thinking of selling/ trading the other 2 boxes for a wax I don't have like bowling alley wax and gliders wax. I'm not sure if you are interested or not, 1 box is 1 pound and has 4 bars of wax in it. I'll trade both boxes with you if you have any of those waxes I mentioned before. If not then maybe I can save them for if I do demos or need a quick fix if I like them. also you don't melt it when using it correct, just rub it in on the wipe off the excess? Thanks

I will try it out. Can I take it out of cotton shirts or bandanas? If so how, and if not how do I get it? Thanks

hi, oh I thought that was straight out the forge and I was wondering how you keep your stuff so clean! Anyway trewax does seem like a good option and I am trying o figure out what wax I should use myself. I am going to be putting up a post on reviews of different kinds of waxes that people use. They include candle wax, Penetrol, paraffin wax, beeswax, shoe cream, classic mix, trewax, gliders wax, floor wax, wax based floor polish, Renaissance wax, etc. that will all be added over time. Eventually it will get into using oils and such. It is gonna help me and lots of guys like us. It is gonna be really good, and if it is really good maybe I will try to see if I can make it into a book to sell on this site to raise so money for the site. Good luck with the wax!

Wax Tips
Hi, I am working on a post about all the different types of wax coating and giving a review of them. Can someone give me any tips on making a research project like this? Glenn gave me some real good tips but he said to ask you guys because more people from diferent areas means more ideas. Also if you have any kind of wax you think would be good for me to test, I will try my best to purchase or make it and try it out. I have the stuff for the classic mix, penetrol, floor wax, wax based floor wax, trewax, shoe cream, paraffin wax, and bees wax. I was wondering if any of you know where to buy bowling alley wax and gliders wax? Any other wax suggestions will be taken into consideration and may be added over time to the post depending on price. Thanks and I am gonna try my best and work really hard to make this something really good! Might not come out real soon because I need to focus on school work too.
