  1. Would something like this be any good for blacksmithing as a fly type press? Too small? Thoughts, ideas, and opinions welcome. www.vintageprojects/machine-shop/press-shop-2-ton.html Has anyone built a small flypress? from what I understand there is a lot of technical details that go into one, so I am wondering if anyone has built one that works well. Pictures and thoughts welcome.

The tensioner is your foot, the adjustability is where and which link you hook onto the pin at the base. No Harley owners close by, Bicycle chain will work." Anyone have pictures of this set up?

  11. I hope this is posted in the correct category. Anyone know how to go about crushing coke or coal to a smaller size? I have got some that needs to be smaller to work better with my forge and the way I smith.

  13. A good book for the beginner if Wayne Goddard's 50 Dollar Knife Shop Tells and shows how to get started and has a chapter on wire Damascus.

Anyone know who made this anvil? my guess is Vulcan but I do not know, the body is cast iron and has no markings the face is about 1/2 inch of steel that I cannot file the rebound is fair and the surface is rough. It is most likely a cheaper anvil but not quite an A.S.O. Any help is appreciated Caintuckrifle
  17. Here it is for the most part it is plenty stable for everything I have needed to do the base is some large angle iron and the shelf keeps oil and adjustment tools handy.
  18. Can someone describe to me their favorite shape/curvature a typical hammer face should have. Also how hard should a hammer face be? should I be able to just barely file? Thanks, Caintuck rifle
  19. Mine is mounted about as portable as a post drill gets on a freestanding post, I will post some pictures tomorrow.
  20. Anyone ever heard of a No.147 it looks nearly identical to the 616 and yet I cannot find anything about the drill.
