  1. Hello friends. A brother of mine has an idea. He'd like to have his sterling silver purity ring melted down and made into an engagement ring for his lady. It would have a stone set in it. Is this possible? What are the problems?
  2. I've been practicing making flat forgewelded rings out of 1"x1/4" stock, and the forgewelding part is easy. The hard part is actually making them round instead of oval or square. I've tried to round them out on my horn but it seems like I'm expending a lot of energy on a substandard result. Is there an easy way to make flat rings or do I just need to 'git gud'?
  3. This was my first attempt at making a damascus steel ring. Its pretty simple but its the smallest thing i have ever made which made it a bit more difficult. Maybe if i had a coal fore it would have been easier to grab with some simple pliers but my gas forge was making picking this thing up a bit tricky. Going to use clear coat enamel to protect from rust so it can be worn. Any thoughts?
  4. I would like to know if (since I've never worked with silver and don't have access to it currently) how hard a silver ring is to make. My girlfriend likes the idea of me forging our rings. I may just make them from the steel/iron pieces I usually consider too small to use. Any suggestions or tips?
  5. I haven't had a towel holder in my master bath since i moved in. I figured I would give one a shot. This was the first time I create a full circle with the track anvil. Also a first for the split scroll. After doing the wrap (or twist) on the ring I'm finding that I'm not a fan of the look. i might make a new ring. Check out a video of it being made HERE.
  6. i have been thinking about making a ring (similar to a wedding ring)like a section of pipe that fits around the fingers, so no gap, how is this done? thank you monty
