  4. Sask Mark - Thank you! Allen - Feel free to use what you need. No need to crop anything. Ian - I think it was 25 cents. :D Mitch
  5. Allen - Thank you! I found this piece at a garage sale in my neighborhood. Unfortunately they only had one like this. My wife was hoping for a matching pair. I am always on the look out for odd shaped or antique glass to use for items like this. Mitch
  6. Looks good! What are the dimensions? I'd be interested in seeing it when you are finished. Mitch

  8. Bentiron - thank you very much! Thomas - This one will be used with the glass as shown with a candle. I hadn't thought of using an oil lamp. Interesting idea. Thanks. I've been pondering making an oil lamp. Gives me ideas for my next one.......... hmmmmm....... Mitch
  9. Beth - Yes, I did cut the hole from the original strap. All one piece. Thank you very much. Mitch

  14. You can always use a torch for localized heating. Mitch
  15. Dave, I don't know what resources you have, but if you know any plumbers you might borrow a threading machine to turn it with. I have a Ridgid 300 machine that has torque you wouldn't believe. You would have to heat the whole area in a forge and then quickly clamp it in the machine. I'm not sure if your rose bud torch would heat it up that well. I have no experience with one. Keep us posted though. I would like to know how you end up. Mitch
  16. Thank you all for the nice comments. It means a great deal. Curly - A BP? I've never done one. Hmmm.... maybe. It seems simple enough to do though. Randy - Thanks for the tip. I agree. After looking at them, softer edges on the leaves would be better. Beth - The rose is like any other. I just cut the stem real short and used the leaves underneath as legs. I then tack welded the leaf stems to the stub left over from the stem. For the center, I clamped a 1" steel coupling to it and formed the first set of pedals around it, creating the round center. Seldom - Thank you very much.
  17. THAT is too cool! I have got to make myself one of those. Thanks for sharing. Now, what if you heated the area right behind the "head" and turned it 90 deg's?.......... MItch
  18. This design was suggested to me by a family member. This is my first try. My wife snagged it as soon as she saw it. I'm glad I got a pic first. Critiques welcome. Thanks for looking. Mitch
