  1. Beautiful knives. Love the file work. Please keep us posted on your future knives ( and sword ). Mitch
  2. Looks good. Make sure you apply some wax or other protective finish to keep the bare metal from rusting. Keep us posted on your next one. Mitch
  3. I have a radio in my shop, but don't often use it. My anvil is a Fisher, so it itsn't very loud. That is my time to think. Besides, I like to hear when someone is around or coming into the shop. Mitch

    More Hats

HI Biggundoctor. The bottle opener works very well. I "cheated" with the tab and welded a piece of steel just inside the rim and another flat piece on the other side. I wasn't sure how to forge these parts into the hat, so that was my current solution. Thanks for the interest. Mitch
  5. Oh man, sorry to hear it! Prayers sent your way. Keep cooled off and rest. Mitch
  6. Prayers sent from Florida. God's blessings. Mitch
  7. Very nice! Awesome work. How much time goes into the kettle hat? Thanks for posting. Mitch

    More Hats

Thank you CurlyGeorge and Beth. :)
  9. Since my first cowboy hat turned out ok, I decided to make two more for my two sons. One I made into a bottle opener for my youngest ( the bottle opener was his idea ). The second I made into a belt buckle for my eldest ( the buckle was my wife's idea). These are a little larger that my first. 3-1/2" in diameter, 1/8" thick. Comments and cretiques welcome. Thanks for looking. Mitch

  13. Let me be the first to say WOW! That's a beautiful knife. I really like the pattern in the steel. Nice lines and the selection of materials works well together. Thanks for posting. Mitch
  14. Nice forge! Now you're really hooked. It would be worth your time to add an idler valve. Over time, I'm sure it pays for itself. Keep us posted on how you do & what you make. Mitch
  15. Thank you all for the nice comments. Much appreciated. Mitch

    First Ulu

Thank you for the comments. It started out like a traditional Ulu. I decided to change it a little. I liked the rounded corners better. Mitch
  17. Thank you CurlyGeorge. Yea, the material was a bit thick for this. It's 1/8" thick. I liked it though. I didn't have to worry so much about punching through. Mitch
  18. Thanks! It started out at 3" in diameter. I'm definitely going to have to make more. :) Mitch
  19. Hello. I just tried my first cowboy ( or any ) hat. I messed up and dinged the front, but otherwise I am happy with it. Comments and critiques welcome. Thanks for looking. Mitch

    First Ulu

Greetings. I haven't posted in a while. I just finished my first Ulu shaped knife. It is made from a concrete cutting blade. Has red oak handle and brass pins. I forgot to get exact measurements. The oal is approx 8" long. It still needs some more polishing and sharpening. Critiques and comments welcome. Thanks for looking. ( crossing my fingers the upload works ) Mitch
  21. Wow!! What else can I say? That is beautiful. The detail and workmanship are great. Thanks for posting. Mitch
