  11. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Glenn, Andrew & all who work so hard to build & maintain this site. I came to blacksmithing sort of by chance. I "inherited" an old 100# anvil and a couple of hammers a couple of years ago. I have now started to build a small "smithy" of my own. I could not have gotten where I am without this site or the many friends I am making here. Thanks to you & all the others who share their wisdom, knowledge & insite. It has made this site a great source of not only information, but of friendships as well. Thanks again!! MRobb
  12. Very nice! What a neat idea! How long did it take you?
  13. Thanks Peyton for the valuable info. I am new to this blacksmith stuff. I am having a great time going through the info on this site. I have a binder in my shop with material I've printed. It's getting so I'm going to have to start a second binder soon. Thanks again to you, and all others, for sharing your knowledge.
  14. Hey everyone. I am a newcomer to this rewarding obsession called blacksmithing. I have been working at this for probably less than a year. In fact, I just joined this site a couple of days ago. I am still getting used to navigating the site & reading all the usefull information. My thanks to all the experienced & knowledgeable people out there who are willing to help out.
  15. Hey John. You don't know me, as I just joined/registered yesterday. I have been reading over what has been posted. I can't really add anything to all the great advice given so far. Except maybe one thing. Question. Are you on good terms with your neighbors? If you talked to them (as one person has already mentioned) and explained what you wanted to do, you might then be able to go to your mother & tell her that they don't mind you trying. That would knock one thing off her list of why you shouldn't do this at home. Also, try making things that she can use around the house. Let her see useful & productive things coming from this. It doesn't have to be anything big.
