  1. Shipping companies have wasted no time in hiking up shipping rates to match the $4 gasoline. I shelled out $225 to move an item 450 miles. And Conway was nice enough to try their best to destroy it too.
  2. Don't forget to consider shipping cost into the deal. For me being able to drive to a Blacksmith meet and pickup a Euroanvil was a deal clincher.
  3. I have to ask... what's with the parking lot in the background?
  4. Take a look at Hitzer stoves. The 983 is a beast.
  5. 175 miles away. Of course I'm getting ready to build a shop and need the $$ for the building.
  6. No one can change your life except you. = Myself
  7. Just take the tank to the dump and dispose of it properly. A friend of the family just blew up a 55 gal oil drum last week with a plasma. Lost a lip & ear and has major burns.
  8. I need to make a flypress bolster plate. I can get 4x8 sheets of 3/16 for the same price as 4x4 of 3/8. I can cut 3/16 with ease on my plasma. (The plasma will severe 1/4 if I am careful and go real slow.) I figure I can get the 3/16 and cut two bolster plates and put a few welds around the edges. Will the layered 3/16 have the same strength as solid 3/8? I know battleships/tanks are multi layered steel.
  9. Time to forge a hammer/hardy rack. I bet if you had a guillotine tool you could make a nice one....
  10. I think you'd be better off getting the tire hammer plans from Clay Spencer. The diy hammer wheel has been invented plenty of times.
  11. The Lowes employees are a hoot. I was next to the compressors one day while one was explaining to a woman that there is no need for a 80 gal compressor. That a 30 gal is all anyone would ever need. I chucked because I had just returned their 80 gal because it couldnt keep up with my 10cfm blast cabinet.
  12. I was in a class and made about 50 hooks. The instructors came over and were in awe, because I had sent the entire morning making hooks.
  13. Terry @ OWA made mention of the extra weight of the P6 actually slowing it down. that the P5 is a faster press. My big concern is the occastional need to slit or punch 1" stock for a project I have in mind.
  14. Some of you need to lay off the World of Warcraft.
  15. How much more work is a P6 capable of compared to a P5 ? Or is more just added throat? I'll estimate 95% of my work will involve stock 1" or less. So is the P6 worth the extra $300 and extra shipping?
  16. I toyed with the idea of making a "disc" from some lumber. I may try and cheat and hit up a local fabrication shop and see if they have a roller and have them roll me the big ring I need and make it into a jig then just bend around it from then on.
  17. One of the rings I need to make is about 22" The rest are much smaller.
  18. I need to make some rings of various sizes. Mostly from flat stock with some round. I really don't have time to make my own ring roller so I'm trying to figure out my options. Should I just use various round objects like pipe and car tire rims? Or break down and get a ring roller? Are the ones on ebay any good? 21. That's a good point and I'm thinking about what I want to accomplish; it points to the Flypress is more useful to me right now.
