  1. i hear alot of people say theyre dangerous. i cant deny that as a fact, but most of the old welders around here say its all in how you maintain them.. clean em often and keep a close eye on em .. considering carbide is 8 dollars a lb i probably wont be using it anytime soon.. depending on what theyre selling for i may let it go. itd give me a couple extra bucks and a little more room in the shop
  2. Totally looks like my shop. Drill press is on an 18wheeler rim and everything else is on plow discs. Hammer is looking good so far
  3. growin up, we always had this thing in the back corner of the shop just wasting away.. a couple years ago i decided to pull it out and attemt to clean it up and possibly use it.. well i got it pulled out but never done anything else with it.. couple months ago i started trying to locate carbide for it but that stuff is few and far between.. what do you fellas think i oughtta do with it ? for anyone who doesnt know what it is, its called a carbide generator or acetylene generator..
  4. i was in the process of building it and didnt have any legs on it, so it was sittin on my 3 wheeler... not a bad idea though
  5. hey grant, you could totally repay the cosmos by dropping that hammer off at my place.. or atleast the forge.. lol good score brother enjoy it.. ill be waitin on video of that hammer runnin.

  9. thanks guys. I can definetly say she is something else. She does more for me in a day than i can do for her in a year. Shes been showing quite a bit of interest in smithing too.... now on this blower. all the canedy otto's ive seen have the numbers, like Nghtmrknife's C997 and the 990 on the base.. why doesnt mine have this? and that add is pretty cool, 20 bucks MAN i got robbed lol.. done a little searchin and came across a 1920 sears roebuck add......... the forge that its going to be hooked to is about 20"x22" dont remember what the size of the firepot was though.. anyway thanks again guys i know the forge is ugly as sin but hey, i built it and im proud of that..
  10. This past weekend at the Saltfork annual picnic i seen this sitting in the bed of a truck for sale.. seen the price tag on it said 295 and kept walkin (im out for a broken collarbone and getting paid 60% from the insurance from work so not alot of extra cash to go around after bills here lately).. while i sat inside watching some forging my wife went walking around checking things out.. A little while goes by and she comes and gets me, brings me outside and said this was comin home with us, she got it for 250 and he would take payments SWEEEEEEEEET .. No slop in it what so ever, no leaks and it puts out more air than my wifes hair dryer i had hooked up to the forge..
  11. Mind... Completely... Blown... well it may be a while before I start melting aluminum.. and I don't have a tig or plasma I really don't have much use for it. So with that being said. If anyone lives near me and wants it. Give me a holler and come pick this thing up

  13. Recently I was given a nitrogen cylinder along with an acetelyne cylinder both bottles full. The acetelyne probably wont last too long out in my shop (been needing one for a couple years now, just havent had the motivation to go rent one.). But the nitrogen I'm not sure what to do with, or what I can use it for. What should I do with it?
  14. The wife went and picked up a Jhm basic for 225. My first "real" anvil. Pretty good shape too. Got a few small chips on the edge of the face and what seems to be a bit of paint splatter. Can't wait for a day off to try it out.
