  1. I hope these qualify. I made them awhile back. The eyed adze is from a late 50's Plymouth torsion bar and the other is from a Chevy nova rear spring. http://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=492&stc=1&d=1155012262
  2. Brian, your #1 Son is added to our Prayer list here, please relate our gratitude to him for his service. My #1 Son retired with 20 years service over a year ago as HM1, ships corpman while on sea duty. We are very proud of him and glad he's home.
  3. Jim, what kinda wire do you use for binding? Is it burned off before the welding or included in the billet?

    RR Anvil

A small scale RR anvil 8" long, the 3 holes at the heel start with 1/4" dia. and go down 1/8" each in size. The maul is another hickory tool I turned.
  5. Praises being heard that Prayer works is proof that will build the Faith that so many need. Congratulations on your Blessings! My major Blessing lately is a beautiful, healthy great-grandson. Praise God from whom all Blessings flow!
  6. Brent, Welcome! It's good to see some of the folks near me joining Iforgeiron. I live a couple of miles south of Jerry Rados, maybe we can get him to join too. I've been a hobby smith for about 40 years and have learned more from the wonderful folks here than anywhere. Your great talent will be viewed through here all over the world.

  16. Rick, here's an inside shot of what I described in my last post. http://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=437&stc=1&d=1154230986
  17. IForgeIron Blueprints Copyright 2002 - 2007 IFORGEIRON, All rights reserved BP0277 Scott's Coal Forge by Jerry Carroll to get started in blacksmithing and needed a forge. This forge was put together from parts that were laying around the shop. The blower and auger drive is from a coal furnace stoker -- Norge The blower needed a motor, so one was located and attached. I used an old car brake adjusting star wheel set-up in the end of a length of pipe--works great! I'm cutting the ends out of old water pump holding tanks and welding the tubes together for 12" heavy wall stack. The forge table has a really big fire pot without the full size car brake drum. The drum makes a real nice sweet spot that can be big enough for good size stock--we had a fire in it already. The area around the drum will be filled either with ash or some of the clay from the river bank here. The anvil is a 130 lb Trenton I found for $130.00--excellent shape!! I just found a 400 lb anvil I haven't seen yet for a $1 a pound and a bunch of tools in an old barn just to get them out of the way!! I don't get out much but when I do and I'm scrounging Carol has another heart attack! Talk to you later, We plan to finish the installation soon, he's got a lot of potential with the new 2 story barn. View full article
  18. Rick, I'll hafta take some pictures of the inside--no trouble I cut the hole with avaitor snips, I have right and left cut heavy duty ones. It put a cramp in my hands though! I used a real thin blade on my 4 1/2" angle grinder to make a square cut first --then finished up with the snips. The hole is marked 12"-- cut 10 1/2"--then made 1" wide tabs folded at the 12" mark. The 12" pipe is clamped to the wall with a strap around the tabs that fit around the pipe inside the building. The pipe is braced inside and out with conduit. The turbin works great! With the wind or without. The turbin is 2' above the peak of the roof. I went through the wall cause the warrenty on the roof would have been voided if I punched a hole in it. Email me and I'll send some detailed info. Oh yeah--the turbin with the collar and gear was less than $30 at Lowes--made in the U.S. of A.!
  19. I've been using future acrylic floor finish for quite some time. It dries quick and lasts as good as slower drying stuff--especially inside. It's easy to reapply too when needed--nothing is permanent :(
  20. Like Woody sez: heating and AC people handle or as in my case, make larger sizes. Mine is 12" with a turbin= no smoke in the shop. http://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=394&stc=1&d=1153623242
