  1. Seems the couple very high priced 25 LGs on ebay was a fluke. The hammer market is pretty strong and stable these days. I'll probably never get a air hammer. I love my two 100 lb Little Giants! :)
  2. Fred K. used to say "put more oil on it" ... Aside from that, Little Giants need adjusting here and there on a regular bases. Heated shop helps a lot.
  3. Congrats! I have two 100 lb LGs and love em both. No brakes here either. :)
  4. I have forged a fair bit of 2" rd tool steel under my 25 LG. Like Grant said, "well tuned" and "drawing dies" are key. That said, I'd much rather use one of my 100 lb LGs. :D
  5. A wood base will work fine, but a hammer will hit harder with a huge chunk of concrete under it. Here are mine, with aprox 3 feet under them and 6" above the floor. The new one on right does not have enough concrete, but it'll have to do.
  6. The die key needs to make full contact for the length of the die. You likely need to get a new key from Sid and fit it per Sid's instructions. Works for me...
  7. It makes a difference on the old style hammers, but Not the new style...All it's doing on the new style is adjusting spring tension.
  8. Good deal and fantastic hammers! Glad someone is putting them back to wok!!!
  9. Congrats! Nice lookin hammer! Old style with rear clutch, kind of rare.
  10. YES! Good to pick up a few parts, save a bunch on shipping. Bout 8 hours for me and I'll probably go again just for fun. :)
  11. The first time I saw one of these was at a knife show back in 97-98 in St.Louis and I bout freaked out. Was the first time I met Sid also, we've been good friends ever since. He also had a brand new 100#er in the back of his truck. Dave, great job, it's lookin fantastic!!!
  12. Like Dave said, go to the class. Even if one doesn't need to rebuild a hammer, it's a hell of a lotta fun! And ya learn a ton about these hammers.
  13. Dave, too cool man! Folks, I've seen a couple of these Sid has built in person and they are over the top!
  14. Welcome. A picture of the whole hammer would help. And in a much smaller file size! 1+ MB is crazy huge for the Internet!!! Some of us backwoods folks can't get high speed, unlimited internet service.
  15. Here's a link to the thread I did on my new 100 lb Little Giant.
  16. Congrats on the 100 ponder! They are great hammers. I have two, use them hard and love them both. I rebuilt the first 100 lber 12-13 years ago and bought the second one (brand new) from Sid last summer. Sid and Kerri are two of the finest people on the planet. Dave Sloan is another, he's usually helping with the rebuild class.
  17. I love the 100 lb LG, but that one is junk!
  18. Sid and Keri at Little Giant are super fine folks. I have a 25 they rebuilt, a brand new 100 they built and a 100 that I rebuilt. Been using the 25 for over 10 years and it's still like new, so don't worry about wearing one out. Sid will school ya on lube and maintenance. Can't really help on which to get, I love my 25 but have not run a 50 too much. The 25 should do ya fine, but the 50 will have a little more thump. Good luck!
