clenceo
I found this anvil in my area on Craigslist. Im assuming it's the lower anvil with the letter "M" Unfortunately I'm out of town and I WANT, but I'd like to hear from the pros!
BIGGUNDOCTOR
The green one is a Vulcan which is a decent anvil. The other one is also cast, and appears to possibly have a top plate added. I am not familiar with the M, but it may be a good anvil. You would need to do a rebound test. If it tests good, the price is right.
caintuckrifle
Isn't the bottom a Milne Anvil?
ThomasPowers
As many cast anvils do not have a steel plate but often a "fake" molded in I would definitely want to test it. The solid cast steel anvils I have seen tend not to have a "fake plate" but there are exceptions to everything!
Crazy Ivan
The top one is a Vulcan. Bottom teir of usuable anvils but not too bad nonetheless. Many clubs and classrooms use them for student anvils. The bottom one has all the lines of a Columbian but I am not familiar with the "M" off the top of my head. It does ring a bell but it is escaping me.
clenceo
Unfortunately it's been sold
Frozenforge
I believe the bottom is a Columbian, they typically had an M on the 100 lb models. Roman numeral for 100? Maybe the top one was the 75lb and they still have the Columbian.
matto
The top is a 50 lb Vulcan. That is what the 5 is between the feet.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
M is the Roman numeral for 1,000. C is 100.
Frozenforge
Oh yeah. Always used to see it at the end of movies but since 2000 the M has gone away. I revisited AIA and Mr Postmans information is where I read about the M being on the 100 lb Columbians
