February 11, 200917 yr Hi all, Just finished a bunch of display items for a NYC gallery's show next month in the Netherlands. I had less than 2 months to do everything (not all pictured here) and after several 70 hour weeks I am ready to rest! There are a pair of the cabinets as well as another shelf and a pedestal for a large At Nouveau pot he will be displaying. Now I get to relax a bit and get ready to go install all this stuff in three weeks! Cheers, John
February 11, 200917 yr Really outstanding work John! Excellent design with superb craftsmanship and execution. Enjoy the install and post some pics when it's all in place!
February 12, 200917 yr That's outstanding!!!!! Do you have a web site so I can drool some more? I really enjoy the finer craftsmenship of metal!
February 12, 200917 yr Those are really something. Kind of creep me out in a giant insect sorta way but I really like them anyway. Enjoy the break. Frosty
February 12, 200917 yr Author That's outstanding!!!!! Do you have a web site so I can drool some more? I really enjoy the finer craftsmenship of metal! Haha, thanks. Yeah, it hasn't been updated in 4 years, but here you go: johnhaleyiii.com Thanks everyone for the kind words! :D
February 23, 200917 yr Truly excellent and admirable work! Strong, bold lines, beautiful craftsmanship, perfect symmetry, I love it. Especially the one in the second picture caught my eye. Such a powerful and energetic shape! And I love the way you have used so many different techniques to create variety in the sculpture. A perfect example of blacksmithing with an "untraditional expression". Excactly the type of work people should see more of, to realize that our craft isn't just knives and swords and "scrolly-scrolly" items.
February 26, 200917 yr Author Is there a theme to this show. if so how do these fit into the theme? ggraham Well, they are display items for my client's gallery that specializes in period (circa 1900) Art Nouveau ceramic pieces. My work and the the pieces he sells get along quite nicely!
February 27, 200917 yr Beautiful!! They are like sorta gothic / steampunk / post-modern industrial... no? I like how ribbony and fluid they are.
