Jason D
I have a question regarding a tuyere that is in pretty bad shape. It is cast iron which of course means nickel rods to make any repairs, I usually tig with a nickel 99 after chipping flux off my rods. But this thing is pretty far gone. My question is can I purchase a new tuyere at a decent price, is this something that needs to be cast iron/steel or can I use something else. I'm drawing a blank on finding something to convert to use. Just hoping to find something cost affective that will work. thanks Jason D. David Einhorn
Places like Centaur Forge used to sell replacement parts, you might try there.

Sask Mark
Ebay seller the_wagonman from Arkansas sells replacement tuyeres on ebay. The bidding starts at $30 and the ones I've seen sell usually only get 1 or 2 bids. See item # 250319302984. J W Bennett
Jason, I recently bought a complete Vulcan fire pot with ash dump and clinker breaker from centaur forge. I am happy with the quality and the service was good. Shipping and all it was right at $200.00. It bolted right on to the buffalo forge I bought it for. In the past I have also made my own forge and firepot out of plate and sch 40 pipe. I still use that forge and it has held up well. I'm from north of Terre Haute, If I can help you in any way let me know. John

Jason D
Thanks for the help, and i'm guessing that all the replacement tuyeres are cast for a reason. Also for 30 bucks it's sure not worth fabricating one my self. Though I think it would be fun to make. Thanks for the web sites too.

devon blacksmith
If you have a welder you could fab one up out of some sheet.
ThomasPowers
Jason, is your tuyerer from a little rivit forge or a honking big one from a RR forge? The devil is in the details!
Jason D
I thought about fabricating one, but was unsure if most tuyeres are cast iron/steel because of heat. The forge I have is a small rivit style. Jason D.
blksmth
Jason, they are cast because it is cheap to make castings. You can fabricate one of square tubing or round tubing or weld one up of sheet metal. You can a see a fabricated one at: My Portable Forge
