November 17, 2025Nov 17 Holland Anvil just posted the following on their Facebook page: Many of us here will remember when Greg Hagen first showed up on IFI in 2017 as member "foundryguy", looking for advice on anvil design for a pattern he and his son Hobie were planning to cast. Since then, we've seen Holland Anvil become a premiere supplier of anvils, swage blocks, and other cast tools, and I have never hesitated to recommend their anvils to anyone looking to start forging or to upgrade their setup. Greg further comments: Quote We are very sad to announce that Holland Anvil, Holland Alloys, and Holland Pattern will all be closing permanently. Costs surrounding the steel industry have been rising for a long time, and we have always done what we could to keep up. We are making this decision now and by choice so we can properly take care of our vendors, customers, and employees. We will be taking care of all of our past and future orders on our website, but our last heat has been poured, and our current inventory is final. Thank you all who have supported us over the years, and we hope that your Holland Anvil tools will last for many generations to come. I am deeply saddened that we are losing such a valuable resource to the smithing community, but I cannot help but admire Greg and his team for closing out their operation with dignity and class. I wish them the very best in whatever comes next. PS. At the time of writing, they do still have some remaining stock, so if you want anything, now's your (last) chance.
November 17, 2025Nov 17 That's heartbreaking. Until the end of your post I was writing it off as a "scammer" making a lookalike facebook page... oh how denial hits us. They made some amazing tools.
November 17, 2025Nov 17 I recently purchased an anvil and a swage block. I feel fortunate to have them. I love them! How much more would they have to have charged to be able to stay afloat? A couple hundred dollars more for a $1400 anvil wouldn't have prevented me from buying one. So sad.
November 18, 2025Nov 18 Author Update: Greg just posted the following on FB: ”Thank you all for your support in every comment, message, and order. We love the forging community and we are excited to watch our tools live on in your work. “We are currently buried in almost 200 orders in the past day. We are filling them in the order that they were received, and expect to get them all done or close in the next couple days. “We will have a small restock this Friday at 3pm to add any additional anvils or blocks that we don't already have listed on the website.”
November 24, 2025Nov 24 Hey friends, We are closing out foundry and pattern shop, unfortunately we can not make the blacksmith tools without either shop. The anvil stuff was great, its business in today's world that is difficult. Making profit over the past 6 years has been the issue. In 8 short years we have put anvils and blocks on 6 continents and I have friends in all 50 states. I appreciate all of you and the kind words and friendships. Cheers, Greg
November 24, 2025Nov 24 It's sad but the real world is what it is and makes the rules. Please tell the folks at Holland we appreciate all they've done for the craft and we wish you well. There are a number of Holland anvils and a couple swages in our club and I've gotten use them. As good a modern anvil as I've ever used. I hope you drop in on IFI once in a while, you've been a solid contributor I've always learned things from you. Thanks you Greg. Frosty The Lucky.

January 18Jan 18 Today I paid PayPal through their online website for a flat hammer drift. It showed still avail and it took my funds. Everything else is out of stock and I’m happy last year I’d bought a swage and anvil from them. I saw the proxibid auction occurred in Dec. Would anyone know if the business is still cleaning out inventory and if I’ll get the drift delivered?
January 18Jan 18 You could try sending a PM to Greg foundryguy and ask directly. They had a sterling reputation so I assume you'll get what you ordered or they'll refund your money. Let us know what happens. P.S. Welcome aboard. Stick around and participate. Read the pinned "Read This First" thread for some helpful information. Edit your header and put in a location so we know where in the world you are. Add a note in the "Introduce yourself" section. And glad to have you.
January 18Jan 18 Thanks, I actually have his cell and will try. After clicking BUY I began imagining my $ went into some black hole in as much the website hadn’t explained the co. folding, as such. Last year, he was gracious spending time discussing my prospective (and consummated) purchase of a Church windows anvil. I’m new to forging (though lurked here for some years)… then committed to jump in once I convinced myself the forging process could aid some of my aspirations. I’ve been fortunate to have supported nearly all U.S. makers w/ my tooling-up. This thread should convert to posting images of Holland’s pictured in folk’s shops to show-off the goods, to honor his wishes to demonstrate these items are here forward serving good purposes. Will let all know if I have a delivery;)
January 20Jan 20 Perfect - HA is following through and continues to ship remaining inventory recently sold-out, etc. so if anything remains available on the website it looks good to buy and will ship.
