rthibeau
I finished a commission, photos attached, that is to go on a religious statue in the Phillipines and be in a major parade in Manila on Dec 8. It was to replicate the flowers and crown on a bronze statue in France that commemorates an apparition of Mary to two shepherd children in 1849. Flowers are copper, crown is varying steel flat bar. larrynjr
Richard, That looks Great! A very awesome display of skill. How did you happen into this commission? No worries about me, trying to steal any from you, I'm not doing any smith work for pay, just curious about a commission to the Phillipines. rthibeau
Larry, the contact came through my website. The client reviewed and liked my work, so asked me if I would do this. We agreed on a price and I sent photos as the work progressed. This was the result.

rthibeau
A quote from the client's email..."As for the hammer and tongs, I spoke with my priest cousin, that the tongs and the hammer are the materials used for nailing Jesus to the cross, and for spiritual message - we as Christians need to be reminded that everytime we commit sins, we are nailing Jesus to that cross over and over again. He also said that a group of metal and steel workers locally from the Shrine in the Philippines believed that Our Lady of La Salette is the Patron Saint of Metal Workers. And theres a group in France too, bronze makers he said, the makers of the statues in La Salette also consider this image their inspiration."
