Repousse Pitch #2

Mix 1 part common pitch with 1 part Plaster-of-Paris

I'm looking to make a pine resin based pitch, similar to the first listed here. I'm having a difficult time sourcing brick dust, and was wondering if there's some intrinsic property to it that makes it a necessity for the pitch, or if I could substitute some other fines, like fly ash or diatomaceous earth.

Try asking a brick Mason for the residue from his brick saw. You'll have to dry it out

Or salvage an old brick and pound it to powder. Old handmade bricks are best.

I'm Presbyterian and we don't use red brick dust in our sacraments. Is that a Druid thing?

Steve

I have seen it for sale. I believe it's used in wiccan and voodoo.

if you do a google search you will find you can use sand and Plaster of Paris, or Iron oxide.
