White Nomad
So, I'm looking to get a relatively small induction furnace to melt and cast copper for making bars and other things from scrap. I'm looking online but all I find are those $300 induction ones and I don't overly trust them. Does anyone know where I can find a decent induction furnace for less than $500 AUD, and yeah I live in Australia so if it ships there, that would be great. I'm not too concerned at the size, 1KG will be enough.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
We used Ameritherm where I used to work, 30KVA, and a lot more than $500. But, they make excellent units, and extremely helpful with information.
ThomasPowers
So an induction furnace of 1 kg capacity for under US$400? I don't believe there is such an item currently on the open market.

swedefiddle
Good Morning, I have a 15kw, 220v single phase, Induction Heater (Forge). I have never thought it would liquify metal. I think you would need a pile more current!! All of a sudden, your inexpensive thought is out the window and GONE. You could make your own, it is only a collection of a bunch of pieces. It may take you 20 years to get close to what you thought you wished for. Neil
johnnyendeavour
this is old thread... but I melt copper fine with my 15KW US solid inductio forge. I had to do significant electrical upgrade to have the 220 service for it to work and it was more than that... but it is also great for heating steel
