August 3, 200817 yr I'm 57 and my bones started aching before I started blacksmithing, but I do so enjoy this hobby.

August 3, 200817 yr Started when I was 51 and I'm now 57. Been a metal worker, by trade, since '76. Dang, I wish I had started smithing back then, too. Missed a lot of good years!!!

August 3, 200817 yr Born in 1941--got "involved" in smithing/fabricating bout 9 years later-- started metal working (full time employment) 1963. Set up my own smithy bout 25 years ago. I call it a hobby now :)
August 3, 200817 yr I got hooked in the 7th grade metal work class in like '62...it wasn't till 75 or so when I picked up Alex Bealers book. It seem like for ever! just a hobby through.
August 3, 200817 yr I am 44 and It seem like things started changing at the 40 mark. Eyes,aches and pains,memory!!

August 4, 200817 yr I notice a slight dip in the 20's. 'Course when I was 20 somethin' I had other priorities too! ;)
