ablenumbersix
This vise only has half a maker's mark. Does anyone recognize it? I don't have a picture of the vise put together right now, but it's a wagon tongue vise.
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
It's too bad someone ground off a portion of the name.
ablenumbersix
You're telling me. I wish I could find an approximate draw for it. I'll post a Pic of the full vise tomorrow.
ablenumbersix
I haven't decided how I'm going to mount it. If anyone has any good setups for this style of vise I'd love to see it.
Chris C
Me, I'd just use those two bolts to attach it to a steel block and plate arrangement and bolt it to a rigid table. Chris
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Make a wagon tongue sticking out from the end of a sturdy bench.
ablenumbersix
It's really too bad. I just got rid of my wagon tongue collection. I think I will use the bolts like Chris the Curious Said. https://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/54645-using-the-name-on-the-forum/ Edited September 5, 2019 by Mod30 remove @ tag
Farmall
I saw one where the fellow removed the rear mount entirely, and basically bolted an angle iron section to it and used that to bolt it to a table.
ThomasPowers
I would fip the section that goes around the wagon tongue so it still attached but pointing down and build a typical post cise mount for it. Perhaps with a support that engaged the bottom of the vise for greater strength. I have a couple of the small vises that look like the top of a post vise but were used on benches; and without a leg on them.
