Kozzy
Wasn't there a recent post about a similar tong profile that was determined to be about pulling steel drum lids? I can't seem to find it on a quick search.

ThomasPowers
Wheelwright work has a lot of strange tongs too with spoke pullers and tyre tongs and pullers. When you combine tasks that are "forgotten arts" with blacksmiths able to make an modify their own tools you get a wide range of possibilities. I know I use some tongs in ways they were originally NOT designed for. (Like using shoeing tongs to hold the ball on ball peen hammers for hawk forging...) "Practical Blacksmithing", Richardson has some examples of things like "plowshare" tongs that smiths came up with to make their jobs easier.
