matt87
Strange looking anvil; 2 hardie holes, 4 pritchells. Any idea what it's called/designed for?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACKSMITHS-ANVIL_W0QQitemZ110260447335QQihZ001QQcategoryZ112398QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
nett
Double Arch Anvil. They are relatively rare anvils. These were probably used in a factory situation where a horn was unnecessary. racer3j
Well, as truly new to this world of hammers, anvils as I am, I can see plenty of utility there. With a good selection of hardy shapes one could get many things done with out having to re-setup for each stage. A usable horn is replaced with a hardy bick, or whatever. Just my guess. jet
nett
Perhaps, without having to re-setup for each stage. I might suggest the anvil would facilitate perfecting asymmetrical items that are paired, left and right; moving the Hardie tools from one side to another might be quicker then stepping around the anvil. Steve Sells
Not that I will bis, living here in the states, but Heavy isn't an exact weight, a shame they cant tell ya before ya get it
Dodge
Steve, they obviously have a different philosophy than we do about useful weight as well. "Anvil is very heavy so is for collection only." What the heck does that mean???!!! ;)
skunkriv
"Collection only" is what we would call "pickup" or "for local pickup only" in an ad here. Neat anvil. Would be useful in any shop.
ThomasPowers
Both my bridge anvil and my heavy fisher have two hardy holes. One of the handy bits is to be able to use the other hole for bending or positioning work without having to demount the tooling in the one. simmonds
Nice anvil...I could think of lots of handy uses for it. BTW, thanks for the clarification on "for collection only" Skunkriv. :)
Bentiron1946
My only hope is that if someone buys it for garden decoration they stub their toes on it many, many times:D.
