csatexas
Hey, I am a new member and just ran across a 140 pound Trenton. It has 123590 0n the front and a U on the underside. Can anybody tell me when it was made? I bought it at a flea market and will use it here on the ranch. Anvils aren't cheap in my area of the world, but this one was reasonable, and I am glad to have it. Thanks for any help!
Black Frog
Can you post a picture of the side logo stamp?
csatexas
Wouldn't do much good. You can see the TON in Trenton and that's about it.
Black Frog
I'd like to record it for the Trenton logo database if possible. The "...TON" is usually enough to identify which style logo it was.
csatexas
Photos sent. Can you date it? Thanks
Black Frog
Perfect, thank you! That is the third style of U.S.-based logo stamps that Trenton used in production. A.I.A. indicates 1914.

I have too many friends with non . . . standard tastes to make assumptions. Nice score on the Trenton, top shelf anvils though they can be unpleasantly loud. Have you decided on a stand? What other smithing tools do you have? Frosty The Lucky.
Charles R. Stevens
Yep, we have lady smiths in britches and men forging in skirts (yea, you just go ahead and call them kilts...) we don't descriminate and hot steel dosnt care about your gender, gender identity or gender of romantic interest either. It's why mine is on a steel tripod stand now, took the ear damaging ring out of my Soderfors so I civilized my Trenton with one. Frosty The Lucky. csatexas
Will have a tripod built for it. Mainly to use around the shop. It really has a ring to it. The guy had another 150 pound that had a duller sound.
