Pancho07
I've got 2 4wheelers that were total losses in the wild fire last month. I am planning on robbing as much from them as I can before they go to the scrap yard. Right now I have coil springs and axles on my list. What else should I look for on them that wouldn't be a waste of time trying to pull off?
notownkid
If these were burned completely the springs and axles most likely will be soft and easy to bend by hand. We had a barn fire once and everything we pulled out like axes and iron bars or any tools we never could use for anything afterwards. They would twist like a pretzel and bend double. Fun to watch but a pain at the time. Sorry to here about your loss in the fires.
BlasterJoe
Grab the tie rods. If you set up for forge welding you could use the chains. Sprockets make neat decorative pieces. The steering stem should be good as well. ive had luck with looking up the parts online to find the actual alloys.
Tubalcain2
you might save the rims. the would come in handy for stand bases etc.
Pancho07
This is how burned both of them are, I haven't had the time to do anything with them yet
Frosty
Ah that looks grim. At least it'll be easy to get at all the parts you want. Frosty The Lucky.

SLAG
Pancho, I feel for you. Hang in there. Thinks will turn out right in the end. A friend, SLAG.
Pancho07
Thanks SLAG, we have grass coming back in most places and after the grass these two were the worst of our losses, only one ran and it was kept up at the wheat pasture for the heifers winter grazing, more of a spare. Kevin Olson
Feel for your loss Poncho. The connecting rod in the engine can be forged into a bottle opner. Ive done a few and gear heads love them. I take my ball pien and texture the whole rod so it looks like it came out of a totally exploded engine
